Purex Crystals for Baby Giveaway

Posted by: WoodElves / Category:

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*

Purex sent me three coupons for a FREE bottle of the new Purex Crystals for Baby to give away!

I had tried the regular Purex Crystals so I was looking forward to trying the Baby version, even though none of us have sensitive skin.  I put the Crystals in my laundry along with the detergent.  It adds freshness to your laundry, and I definitely noticed that when I pulled my clean laundry out.  Dishrags that had been used to scrub curry pots smelled lovely, no longer like curry.  When I pulled something out to wear the next day, it still had that fresh, clean smell.  Crystals shouldn't be used with fabric softener, but I might throw a fabric softener sheet in the dyer next time because the crystals didn't help with the static.  Other than that, I really liked the product.

Purex Crystals for Baby is hypoallergenic, dye free, and safe for use on all clothes - I'd keep using it on our clothes, even though we aren't babies!

I'll contact the winners by email or Facebook (however I can reach you) after the giveaway is closed, and you'll have 48 hours to respond or I'll choose a new winner.

emergency room and excellent reading

Posted by: WoodElves / Category:

17 weeks along and starting to show! I felt the baby move for the first time yesterday. On Friday night, David had to take me into the ER for severe stomach pain. I still am not sure what it was- at first I thought I might be getting a flu, but my stomach just hurt so badly and I didn't really have any other symptoms or nausea. Eventually it was so strong that, upon the midwife's recommendation, we dropped Mac off with friends and went to the ER. We were there about 5 1/2 hours and by the end of the night they said it might be appendicitis or kidney stones but I didn't really have all of the symptoms and they couldn't do a cat scan because of my pregnancy. The pain had lessened though, so they gave me a prescription for Vicodin and discharged me around 4am.
Spent most of Saturday just resting and my stomach still hurt some. Someone came and took Mac for a few hours so David and I could just rest and now the pain is completely gone. I went in to the midwife on Monday morning to check on the baby and everything seems fine, so we don't know what happened.

It's nice that we don't have very much planned for the next few weeks so I'll just be able to play with Mac and take care of the house. I've also been doing a lot of reading. After reading several parenting books in a row, I wanted to take a break (I'm not really big on self-help books anyway, whether they're Christian or not).

I finally finished One Thousand Gifts and then read Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis. I've been reading her blog for awhile so I really wanted to read her book. After One Thousand Gifts took me about three months to read, Kisses from Katie took me all of three days! This book shows how God can use one person who is passionately in love with Him and doesn't hold anything back from Him; how He taught her to trust Him more and give more and He always met her in that place; and how, when you are completely in the center of where God wants you to be and doing what He has designed you to do, you will live the most fulfilling life. It's too short though, it leaves you wanting to know more details and more of the story! I highly recommend it.

Now I'm reading Forgotten God by Frances Chan and it's a great read on the heels of the last two books. I was intrigued by a few books on MoneySavingMom's lists and will be looking some of them up to see if the Regent or local libraries have them to read next. But, that kind of depends on how life goes and whether I'm working a lot on STC or not.

Borax Giveaway

Posted by: WoodElves / Category:

Borax sent me three coupons for a FREE box of 20 Mule Team Borax to give away!  I had never tried Borax before and was very intrigued to get a chance to try it.  Borax is 100% natural mineral from the earth, sodium tetraborate, and nothing is added to it.  It's great for all kinds of cleaning, stain removing, and deodorizing throughout the whole house- including garbage disposals, carpets, dishwashers, etc..  Its many uses was one of the main things that attracted me to it.

I used it as a detergent booster in my laundry, since Borax naturally softens hard water, improves your detergent's cleaning power, and helps keep stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes.  We don't have a lot of stains these days but I did have one small blood stain on a shirt that came out completely when I washed it with my regular laundry with my Purex detergent and some Borax.

Here's the scoop:

Purex Baby Detergent Giveaway!

Posted by: WoodElves / Category:

*This Giveaway is now closed*

I have a new Purex Baby laundry detergent giveaway! Purex Insiders sent me a bottle of Purex Baby detergent to try and review.  I'll be honest, Mac does not have sensitive skin so I've always washed his clothes in with ours and our regular detergent since he was born and haven't had a problem. Purex Baby is hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, and is supposed to be gentle on baby's skin and tough on stains.  I used it with our regular laundry and it came out smelling great and just as clean as with our regular Purex detergent.  I can't speak to how gentle it is on sensitive skin, though, but you can win a coupon and give it a try yourself!  Purex sent me three coupons for a FREE bottle of the new Purex Baby Detergent to give away.
